Wesfarmers Limited
WFI a member of the Wesfarmers group and is entirely Australian owned and operated.
Wesfarmers Limited began in June 1914 as the Westralian Farmers Co-operative and for most of its early history was primarily involved with the provision of services and merchandise to Western Australia's rural community.
Seventy years later, with the farmers co-operative as the majority shareholder, Wesfarmers Limited listed on the Australian Securities Exchange in November 1984. Since that time Wesfarmers has consistently been ranked in the top group of Australian companies when measured in terms of total shareholder return.
Wesfarmers Limited operations now include hardware retailing, insurance, mining, industrial and safety products, chemicals and fertilisers, and energy.
In November 2007 Wesfarmers entered an exciting new era in its 93 year history when it acquired Coles Group Limited, taking its employee numbers from more than 30,000 to around 200,000 and its shareholder base to more than 400,000.
