Drive safely during the Easter break
WFI would like remind all drivers to take care on the roads this Easter long weekend. Motorists planning to travel long distances over the Easter break should remember that driver fatigue is one of the biggest killers on our roads. Plan ahead and remember to take regular breaks every couple of hours.
Ambulance Services of NSW* offer the following driving tips to help you and your family stay safe:
- 1) Drive to the conditions -remember, the speed limit is the maximum speed in good conditions. In adverse conditions slow down.
- 2) Always ensure that both you and your passengers are wearing seatbelts at all times.
- 3) Take a break at least every two hours - stop, revive, survive.
- 4) Endeavour to travel during daylight hours - this is when visibility is at its greatest and your body clock is in "awake mode".
- 5) Make your vehicle more visible by driving with your headlights on, even during daylight hours.
- 6) Alcohol and driving do not mix - ensure that only sober drivers get behind the wheel.
Remember, everyone has family, friends and loved ones using the road, so please take care, and have a safe and happy Easter.
